Study published in Medical Sciences, evaluating the efficacy of an innovative dual wavelength laser system (CO2 + 1540 nm) in the management of SUI. 56 women with SUI were enrolled in this study. Half of the patients were treated with CO2 alone, while the other half were treated with the combination of CO2 + 1540 nm wavelengths. Patients were divided into four groups based on the type of treatment received and their menopausal status. The use of a dual wavelength laser system (CO2 + 1540 nm) was shown to be well tolerated and safe, with promising results in reducing symptoms of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), especially in non-menopausal patients. In addition, as an added value, the suburethral laser treatment technique was defined.

DATA OF THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRAINING ON LASER TECHNOLOGY IN SAN MARINO
January 2013 - June 2025
For over 33 years, CO2 laser activity has always been a high-tech treatment that the State Hospital of the Republic of San Marino has had at its disposal since 1992, performing numerous vaporization and ablation interventions in all areas of the lower genital tract of women and men. Over the last 12 years, with the birth of the first treatment created specifically to combat vaginal atrophy (MonnaLisa Touch), thanks also to the support of the DEKA Company, a global manufacturer of laser technology, over 480 doctors have come to San Marino to train at the clinics of our Hospital.
In particular, 340 Doctors arrived from Italy, of whom 302 viewed the treatments on patients "live" (111 from the North, 135 from the Center, 38 from the South and 18 from the Islands), and 42 performed theoretical-practical training courses on animal models, while 141 Doctors came from all over the world (90 from Brazil, 15 from Portugal, 14 from Turkey, 5 from Austria, 4 from Latvia, 3 from Slovenia, 2 from Switzerland, Holland, Croatia and Germany and 1 Doctor from Dubai and Bahrain).
An important training activity made possible thanks to the experience gained over the years with this technology, the extreme professionalism of all the Medical and Paramedical support staff but above all thanks to the precious and kind collaboration of the patients who have always shown themselves to be extremely available.

MYOSTATIN CHANGES IN FEMALES WITH UI AFTER MAGNETIC STIMULATION. A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

A multicenter quasi-experimental study published in the Journal Medicine aimed to evaluate whether flat magnetic stimulation technology affected serum myostatin levels, since myostatin can block cell proliferation at the urethral sphincter. Myostatin is a protein expressed by human skeletal muscle cells, and it inhibits muscle growth. Myostatin concentrations have been observed to increase during skeletal muscle inactivity, and suppression of serum myostatin promotes muscle growth and strength. Therefore, effective flat magnetic stimulation reduces myostatin concentrations and the length of the genital hiatus, minimizing the severity of urinary incontinence.

On 26-28 June 2023, two great friends from Brazil undertook a training course at our hospital on new methods for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders (MonaLisa Duoglide and Dr. Arnold). As for Prof. Dra. Neila Maria de Góis Speck, Coordenadora do Núcleo de Prevenção em Doenças Ginecológicas Departamento de Ginecologia - Escola Paulista de Medicina Unifesp, this is a very pleasant and welcome return, as she was the first Brazilian Colleague to come to San Marino in 2017. A beautiful combination that makes this international collaboration and very important for the prestige of our Hospital

Women at high risk of ovarian cancer are very satisfied with their choice of risk reduction strategy.

and fetal DNA screening (NIPS) for trisomies 21 (T21), 18 (T18) and 13 (T13), and which demonstrated that DNA screening for trisomies 21, 18 and 13 achieved a detection rate of 100% with a false positive rate of 0.02%, passing the traditional combined test with 75% sensitivity and 4.7% false positive rate.
Fetal DNA screening can be successfully implemented in routine care, achieving a high detection rate, a low false positive rate, and consequently greater safety with less invasiveness than other diagnostic tests or other screening methods.

MONNALISA TOUCH: MORE THAN 4300 TREATMENTS
In 2013, I was the first operator, within the Hospital of the Republic of San Marino, to use the Monnalisa Touch treatment in Italy.
I have recently reached and surpassed the milestone of 4300 MonaLisa Touch treatments performed on the 1560 patients who have so far been referred to the Female Lower Genital Tract Pathology clinic.
This is the largest case study in the world regarding this specific treatment.
This brilliant result is the fruit of over 13 intense years of work and continuous research, also through the use of technology towards new therapeutic indications.

OPERATOR AUTHORIZED FOR MONNALISA TOUCH TREATMENT
Since the early months of 2013 I have been accredited, first in Italy, as an AUTHORIZED OPERATOR to perform the vulvo-vaginal laser treatment called MonaLisa Touch.
A prestigious recognition, which was followed over the years by enormous experience in this specific treatment, so much so that I have one of the largest case histories in Italy.
This has led me to hold weekly laser technique courses aimed at specialist doctors in order to acquire the skills and gestures suitable for performing the treatment. In the "event photos" section you can see many of these participants in these courses.
